Zaleplón is a hypnotic remedy, which is used for a short period of time to treat people who have difficulty falling asleep and is indicated only when the disorder leads the individual to great suffering.
Zaleplon is sold commercially under the name Sonata and should only be used by adults.
- Zaleplon is indicated for the treatment of patients with insomnia who have difficulty falling asleep and is indicated only when the disorder is very severe.

The method of using Zaleplon is to take 10 mg before bedtime, however, in the elderly, only 5 mg per night is recommended.
The medicine should only be used for up to 2 weeks and should not be taken with food, and the total daily dose of medicine should not exceed 10 mg in any patient.
Side effects of Zaleplon include amnesia, drowsiness, tingling, menstrual cramps, nausea, vomiting, hallucinations, depression or weakness.
Zaleplon is contraindicated in children and patients with liver, kidney, sleep, severe myasthenia, severe respiratory failure or hypersensitivity to any of the formula components. It should not be taken by pregnant or nursing women or by persons under 18 years of age.
