Tricoeptoma, also known as a sebaceous adenoma type Balzer, is a benign skin tumor derived from hair follicles, which leads to the appearance of small hard balls that can appear as a single lesion or several tumors, being more common in the skin of the face, and may also be more common in the skin of the face.They appear on the scalp, neck and trunk, increasing in quantity throughout life.
This disease has no cure, but injuries can be concealed by laser surgery or dermo-coat surgery, however, it is common for them to reproduce over time and treatment needs to be repeated.
- Trichoeptoma is believed to be due to genetic mutations on chromosomes 9 and 16 during pregnancy.
- But it usually develops during childhood and adolescence.
Treatment of trichoeptoma should be guided by a dermatologist and is usually performed by laser surgery, dermabrasion or electrocoagulation to reduce the size of the granules and improve the appearance of the skin.
However, tumors can grow back, so regularly repeated treatments may be necessary to remove granules from the skin.
Although this is rare, if malignant trichoeptialoma is suspected, your doctor may biopsy tumors taken in surgery to assess the need for other more aggressive treatments, such as radiation therapy.
