Endermology, also called endermotherapy, is an aesthetic treatment used to eliminate cellulite and localized fats, especially in the stomach, legs and arms.
This type of treatment is usually performed by a beautician specialized in rightdermology or a physiotherapist using a specific device capable of stimulating blood circulation and eliminating cellulite.
The endermology can be performed for various aesthetic purposes and is generally indicated for:
Endermology may also be indicated to peel off an adhesive scar, for example, which is very common in a C-section scar. In addition, this type of treatment can help break down fibrosis, which is consistent with hardened tissue that forms under the scar, or after liposuction when the treated area has small undulations as the cannula passes.
Endermanology is a technique that involves performing a vigorous massage with a specific device, which does not cause pain and helps eliminate cellulite. This technique is very safe and should be practiced for about 2 months to obtain results.
The treatment consists of ‘sucking’ the skin, favoring a slip and detachment of the skin and the layer of fat, the fascia that coats the muscles to improve blood circulation, eliminating fluid retention, modeling the body and making the skin more luminous and softer.
Normally, endermology is performed by a physiotherapist using a specific vacuum and ultrasound device that stimulates blood circulation, destroys cellulite nodules, and eliminates toxins. However, this technique can also be used with glass or silicone suction cups and is easy to apply at home, during bathing for example.
Usually, the results of the endermology appear after 10 to 15 30-minute sessions, which should be performed approximately twice a week. However, the number of sessions may vary depending on the purpose of the treatment and the size of the area to be treated.
Contraindications of endermology are linked to increased circulation and are therefore contraindicated in cases of thrombosis, local infections or inflammations, respiratory problems, kidney and liver disease, diabetes and blood circulation problems.
In addition to these contraindications, pregnant women should also not use endermology.
Generally the endermology does not cause complications, however there may be an increase in sensitivity or bruising by aspiration in the area, so the professional who performed the treatment of these effects should be informed.
