Gonarthrosis is a knee osteoarthritis, common in people over the age of 65, although women are most affected during menopause, which is usually caused by direct trauma, such as a fall in which the person falls with their knees on the ground, for example.
Gonorrhea can be classified as follows:
- Goarthritis is not always curable.
- But it is possible to reduce pain.
- Increase range of motion.
- Improve the quality of life and well-being of the patient with a treatment that can be performed with painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs and daily sessions of physiotherapy.
- Which should begin as soon as possible.
- The duration of treatment varies considerably from individual to individual.
- But will never be less than 2 months.
Degrees of knee osteoarthritis, as rated by Kellgreen and Lawrenc, are shown in the following table:
The physiotherapeutic treatment of gonorrhea should be performed individually, as what is indicated for one patient is not always suitable for the other, but some resources that can be used are TENS, ultrasound and infrared, in addition to bags of hot or cold water and exercises indicated by the physical therapist.
Joint mobilization and handling techniques are also indicated as they increase the production of synovial fluid that internally irrigates the joint and reduces chronic pain. When the person has changes such as imbalance, poor posture, and deviations from the knee in or out, exercises that improve posture.and correct these deviations can be used, such as general postural rehabilitation, for example.
The most appropriate exercises are those of bodybuilding with elastic bands or weights that range between 0.5 and 5 kg, depending on the degree of strength of the person, the lower weight and higher repetition are ideal to reduce muscle stiffness and can be performed to strengthen the front, back and sides of the thigh. Finally, the thigh lift can be done. See some examples of exercises for osteoarthritis in the knee.
To help the person walk and move around the house, crutches or sticks may be recommended to better distribute body weight and reduce pressure on the knees.
People with grade 3 or 4 gonorrhea may have difficulty working due to constant pain and inability to stand and bear weight, so when physical therapy treatment, medication and surgery are not enough to restore the quality of life and allow the work the person already has.person can be considered disabled and retiring. But in general, these levels of gonorrhea only occur in people over the age of 65, when they are already retired.
Women are generally affected after age 45 and men after age 50, but virtually everyone over the age of 75 suffers from knee osteoarthritis. It is believed that knee osteoarthritis may appear early, before age 65 in the following situations:
Symptoms of knee pain and cracking can occur after a knee fall on the ground, for example.Pain usually occurs during exertion or physical activity, but in more advanced cases it can last most of the day.
In people over the age of 65, the presence of small osteophytes, visible on the knee x-ray, may indicate a greater severity of symptoms and the need for physical therapy, and in more severe cases, surgery to place a knee prosthesis may be indicated.
