Ringworm, freezing or athlete’s foot, is a type of fungal-induced skin moth that appears mainly between the toes, although it can also occur on the soles of the feet, between the fingers and the groin. The affected area can sting a lot, peel and become whitish or smelly.
Freezing is curable, but treatment can last for weeks and is done with antifungal ointments that can be purchased from the pharmacy. It is important to perform treatment to eliminate itching and discomfort, preventing aggravation of the disease and other skin infections.
- A person may get freezing through direct contact with a contaminated person.
- And also by using contaminated items such as shoes or socks.

The person who develops these symptoms should start appropriate treatment with ointments, which may be indicated by the pharmacist himself. Adolescents and young adults are the most affected, especially in warm and humid climates, and are also commonly found in people who perform physical activity in the gym, swimming or other water activities.
Antifungal ointments such as ketoconazole, fluconazole, daktazol or vodol can be purchased safely at the pharmacy, even without a prescription. The ointment should be applied to wounds, twice a day, with an interval of 12 hours, with dry skin.
The treatment time is variable, but it is easier to cure the freezing using the ointment daily and taking great care to keep the area always very dry. If not respected, treatment may take weeks or months.
When it is not possible to control symptoms with ointments, you should consult a dermatologist for your doctor to tell you that you are taking pills to fight freezing. See other examples of anti-freeze remedies.
In addition to using the ointment indicated by the pharmacist or the pills indicated by the dermatologist, it is important to follow certain precautions such as:

A good home treatment for freezing is to apply 1 freshly crushed garlic clove directly onto the freeze and leave to act for at least 1 hour. Garlic helps to combat the proliferation of microorganisms in the skin, having good effect, but should be fresh, well crushed and always in direct contact with the affected area, so it may be useful to put a sock to hold the garlic in the desired place.
Some people appear to be hypersensitive to garlic. For example, if you experience a burning sensation in the area or if other signs of inflammation, such as redness or swelling, appear, it’s important to remove the garlic and wash the skin with cold water. Ideally, garlic should not be applied for more than an hour.
