Tafamidis: to treat amylose

Tafamidis is a medicine used to treat amyloidosis, a rare condition in which amyloid protein, which is not normally found in the body, accumulates in the body’s tissues, preventing the proper functioning of several organs.

This drug can be purchased from conventional prescription pharmacies, which are sold under the trade name Vyndaqel, produced by Pfizer Laboratories.

  • Tafamidis is indicated for the treatment of transthyretine-associated amylosis in adults with stage 1 symptomatic polyneuropathy.

Treatment should always be guided by a doctor, however, general guidelines recommend taking a 20 mg capsule once a day.

The most common side effects of Tafamidis include frequent bladder infections, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

This medicine should not be used by pregnant or lactating women, as well as by people allergic to Tafamidis or any of the ingredients of the formula.
