Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy, or injectable therapy, is a medical technique used to treat joint pain. The technique involves using injections to regenerate injured tissues, such as swollen tendons and ligaments, that cause pain and discomfort to the patient.

Protherapy consists of applying a solution through a capillary opening in the injured area, this application is interpreted by the body as a new injury and enters a healing process, to double the regeneration capacity of the tissue, thus guaranteeing the effectiveness of the technique.

  • There are three types of solutions used in prolotherapy: irritating chemical agents (phenol).
  • Osmotic agents (glycerin and hypertonic glucose) and chemotherapeutic agents (derived from cod liver oil).

Prototherapy has several advantages, including strengthening the muscles and increasing their elasticity, the technique is indicated for athletes or anyone with joint injuries, however, it should be applied by a qualified professional, to avoid possible problems, such as increased pain after application. Tests should be done to monitor injury regeneration.
