Nistatin should be used as follows
To apply the drops, the mouth should be washed properly, including cleaning the dentures.The contents should be kept in the mouth as long as possible before swallowing, and babies should receive half the dose on each side of the mouth.
Once the symptoms are gone, the application should be maintained for an additional 2 days to prevent them from returning.
The cream should be inserted into the vagina, with an applicator, for 14 consecutive days.In more severe cases, larger quantities may be required.
If your symptoms don’t go away within 14 days, you should go back to your doctor.
Nistatin is usually associated with zinc oxide.To treat the baby’s rash, a dermatological cream should be used with each diaper change.To treat irritation in other areas of the skin, it should be applied twice daily to affected areas.
The main side effects of nistatin are allergies, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, which in the case of vaginal application can cause itching and burns.
Nistatin should not be used during pregnancy or lactation unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
