Nasofibroscopy is a diagnostic test that allows you to evaluate the nasal cavity, up to the larynx, using a device called a nasofibroscope, which has a camera that allows you to see inside the nose and structures of this region, and record the images.on a computer.
This test is indicated to help diagnose changes in the nasal cavity, such as deviations from the nasal septum, sinusitis, nasal tumors, among others, as it allows to accurately identify anatomical structures and visualize the nasal cavity with an adequate viewing angle and lighting.

In addition, it can also be used to detect the presence of foreign objects in the upper respiratory tract.
No preparation is required to perform the test, however, it is recommended that the person not eat at least two hours before the test, in order to avoid nausea and vomiting.
The examination lasts about 15 minutes and consists of the insertion of the nasofibroscope into the nasal cavities, in order to observe the inside of the nose and the structures of this region.
A local anesthetic and/or tranquilizer is usually given before the procedure, so the person is likely to only feel discomfort.
