Esbriet is a drug indicated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a disease in which lung tissues swell and heal over time, making breathing difficult, especially deep breathing.
This medicine has in its composition pyrfenidone, a compound that helps reduce scarring or scar tissue and swelling of the lungs, which improves breathing.

The capsules should always be taken with a glass of water, during or after a meal to reduce the risk of side effects.
Some of the side effects of Esbriet may include allergic reactions with symptoms such as swelling of the face, lips or tongue and shortness of breath, allergic skin reactions, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, shortness of breath, cough, weight loss, poor digestion, loss of appetite or headache.
Esbriet is contraindicated in patients treated with fluvoxamine, hepatic or renal disease and in patients allergic to pyrfenidone or any of the formula components.
Also, if you are sensitive to the sun, need to take antibiotics, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should talk to your doctor before starting treatment.
