Emend is indicated to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery or in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Adults use Emend in tablet form, and the doctor generally recommends 125 mg of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting 1 hour before chemotherapy; 80 mg, once daily, in the morning for the next 2 days.
In the case of prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting, 40 mg 3 hours before induction of anesthesia is recommended.
Some Emend side effects include fatigue, weakness, constipation or diarrhea, lack of appetite, nausea and hiccups.
Emend is contracted during pregnancy, lactation and in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
