Ambisoma is an antifungal and antiprotozoan drug whose active ingredient is amphoterin B.
This injectable drug is indicated for the treatment of aspergillosis, visceral leishmaniasis and meningitis in HIV-infected patients, its action is to modify the permeability of the fungal cell membrane, which will eventually be removed from the body.
- Fungal infection in patients with febrile neutropenia; disseminated aspergillosis.
- Cryptococosis or thrush; cryptococcal meningitis from visceral leishmaniasis in HIV-positive patients.
