Ambisome – Injectable antifungal

Ambisoma is an antifungal and antiprotozoan drug whose active ingredient is amphoterin B.

This injectable drug is indicated for the treatment of aspergillosis, visceral leishmaniasis and meningitis in HIV-infected patients, its action is to modify the permeability of the fungal cell membrane, which will eventually be removed from the body.

  • Fungal infection in patients with febrile neutropenia; disseminated aspergillosis.
  • Cryptococosis or thrush; cryptococcal meningitis from visceral leishmaniasis in HIV-positive patients.
