Alizapride (Superan)

Alizaprida is a medicine to stop nausea and vomiting during cancer treatment and can be given orally or by injection.

This drug, known commercially as Superan, acts on the stomach and intestine in the duodenal region, emptying them early, which relieves symptoms. The drug is produced by the Sanofis Aventis laboratory and should only be used on medical advice.

The use of Superan is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting during cancer treatment.

The use of Superan is done orally, for adults it is indicated 50 to 200 mg per day, divided into 3 or 4 doses and for children 5 mg per kg of weight per day, divided into 3 or 4 doses.

In case of injectable use, it should be applied to the muscle or vein by a nurse or doctor, and for adults 100 to 200 mg per day and for children are recommended, start with 25 mg, proceeding as soon as possible with pediatric drops.

Some Side Effects of Superan include interruption of menstruation, increased breast size, diarrhea, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, facial spasms, involuntary movements or torticollis and low blood pressure.

The use of Superan is contraindicated during pregnancy, pheochromocytoma and in a patient who has had difficulty moving with the use of neuroplastics.
